Happy Fall, Y’all!

OK, OK, so I know it’s still early September and Fall doesn’t officially start until the end of September, but college football kicked off this weekend, most kids have already gone back to school, and pumpkin spice drinks are back in our favorite coffee shops! Labor Day weekend is considered the last hurrah of summer for many. Growing up in Florida, I never got to experience the real beauty of this season. In Florida, we have snowbird season and summer. And it feels like summer most of the year. We won’t start getting cooler weather until November, and even then, cooler means highs in the 70’s and 80’s with less humidity. It is a joyous occasion for us Floridians when we feel the first cool breeze of Fall and can go outside without melting.

This weekend I decided I wanted to start putting out some Fall decorations. I was inspired when I saw photos from a friend of mine on Facebook. She’s put all her decorations out. It’s better to get them out early so you can enjoy them longer! Last year I made a pretty wreath to put on the door, and I’m a little ashamed to admit that I’ve left that wreath up on the door for an entire year. No point in taking it down now!

Anyhow, my husband and I were out and about yesterday and decided to stop at Hobby Lobby. I wanted to find some decor, and after looking around a bit I decided I wanted a centerpiece for our kitchen table. He inspired me to make my own and helped me find everything I needed. We ended up spending a little over $40, and got most of the items on sale. Seriously, if you have a Hobby Lobby near you, go now! Everything Fall-related was 40% off!

So, here’s what I bought and what I created!

If you want to make your own, it’s super easy! Find a cute basket or bucket and then find a foam block that will fit inside. The foam block I found was a little smaller than the bin that I found, so I both the moss to fill in around it. I found an assortment of flowers and leaves and cute things to add and then used wire cutters to cut everything off the long branches and just stuck it all in together. Super easy!

What’s your favorite thing about Fall and do you have any fun crafts to share?

Hope everyone is having a great 3-day weekend!
